What Does a Paediatric OT Actually Do — Seeds Occupational Therapy
About OT

What does a paediatric OT
actually do?

Paediatric occupational therapy is about helping children do the things that matter most in their everyday lives — getting dressed, joining in at kinder, managing big feelings, becoming more confident in their own body.

Supporting children across the things that matter in everyday life

At Seeds OT, we take a relationship-first approach. That means we focus on connection and trust before anything else — seeing each child as a whole person with their own story, sensory world, and strengths.

We work alongside families to support development in ways that feel respectful, achievable, and meaningful.

Regulation & emotional wellbeing

Helping children feel safe and more settled using sensory supports and co-regulation — understanding the need behind behaviour, not just changing it.

Motor skills & coordination

Handwriting, scissors, riding a bike, tying shoelaces — built through play-based activities that support confidence and independence.

Daily routines

Making everyday tasks like mealtimes, toileting, and bedtime routines feel more manageable for everyone.

Play & social connection

Supporting children to build joyful play skills and connect with others in ways that are authentic and comfortable for them.

Transitions & school participation

Working closely with educators to help children feel more included and supported in learning environments.

A small, therapist-led team working with warmth and integrity

We are committed to practice that is grounded in relationship, celebrates neurodiversity, and keeps families at the centre. No single framework fits every child — so we adapt.

You don't need a diagnosis or a referral to connect with us. If you're wondering whether OT might help, we're always happy to have a chat.

Relational

We build genuine relationships with each child and family — trust is where real growth starts.

Neurodiversity-affirming

We celebrate difference and support children to thrive as they are, not by changing who they are.

Family-focused

Parents and carers are the experts in their child's life. We walk alongside you.

Evidence-informed

We draw on current best practice and tailor support to each child's individual needs and strengths.

Flexible & accessible

Home-based sessions to make support more comfortable and convenient for families.

With or without a diagnosis, you're welcome here

We support children with a wide range of needs. Sometimes families reach out when things feel hard at home or school, or when they just want to better understand their child.

There's no threshold you have to meet. If something feels hard, that's enough of a reason to get in touch.
