Individual Therapy
At our practice, individual therapy for children is tailored to meet each child’s unique needs using evidence-based strategies. Central to our approach is building a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship that is grounded in respect, understanding, and, of course, fun.
Our team has specialised expertise in working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and sensory processing challenges. We also support children who may not have a formal diagnosis but experience behavioural difficulties that cause significant distress for them and their families.
We utilise a variety of evidence-based strategies, such as sensory profiles and sensory diets, to help children better understand and manage their sensory processing needs. For example, creating a sensory profile allows us to identify specific sensory sensitivities or preferences, which can then inform the development of a personalised sensory diet—daily activities designed to help regulate a child’s sensory system. These interventions, alongside other therapeutic approaches, aim to promote self-regulation, improve behaviour, and foster emotional well-being.
Through these tailored, evidence-based interventions, we aim to create meaningful, positive change in each child's life.
Home-Based Therapy
At Seeds Occupational Therapy, we prefer home-based therapy whenever possible, as it offers some great benefits for kids. The familiar setting helps the child feel more at ease, and it allows the therapist to build a stronger bond in a space they’re comfortable with. This can also help ease any worries about stigma or feeling like something is “wrong.” When a child feels safe and relaxed, it makes it much easier for them to connect with the therapist and be open to the process.
We’re big believers in relational therapy, which is all about the relationship between the therapist and the child. In this approach, the connection between them is key to building trust, understanding, and confidence. It’s not just about treating the child for “problems”—it’s about creating a space where they feel heard, valued, and accepted for who they are. For children, especially those who are neurodivergent, this type of connection helps them develop skills to manage social situations, understand their emotions, and communicate more effectively. It’s all about encouraging self-acceptance, so they can feel confident in themselves without the pressure to “fix” who they are.
Neurodivergence isn’t a problem—it’s simply a different way of experiencing the world. Relational therapy helps children embrace this and teaches them how to navigate their unique challenges. Instead of focusing on what’s “wrong,” we focus on what’s unique about their way of thinking, feeling, and interacting with the world, helping them develop confidence and skills to thrive.
Because home-based therapy happens in a relaxed, familiar environment, children are often more open and comfortable. This makes it easier to build that important bond with the therapist, and it helps kids feel more confident in themselves, which supports their overall growth. We believe this approach helps children build positive relationships with themselves and others, setting them up for success both at home and beyond.
